Log Qualified by the MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION. RESOLUTION No. 025179 of December 24, 2024. “By means of which resolves the request for renewal of the registration of qualified program of Specialization in Animal Welfare and Ethology of the Fundación Universitaria Agraria de Colombia - UNIAGRARIA, offered in the virtual mode in Bogotá D. C.”
Respond to the needs of veterinary sciences, animal husbandry, biology and health with solid knowledge in the Science of Animal Welfare and Ethology through a curriculum that is relevant, research and extension that allows the ability to analyse, evaluate and apply strategies of bioethics in the framework of the concepts of well-being and Health, environmental sustainability, the culture of entrepreneurship and regional development with a territorial approach.
In the year 2030, the Specialization in Animal Welfare and Ethology will be recognized nationally and internationally for their academic quality and their contributions to the science of well-being and the behavior of the animal, based on the concept of well-being, from the interconnection between animal welfare, human wellbeing and the environment.
General objective
Form integrally Specialists committed with the knowledge and applications of basic and advanced the Science of Animal Welfare and Ethology that manage to resolve, interpret, and generate alternatives bioethical of solution to the problems on these topics in Veterinary Sciences, animal Husbandry, biology and Health through joint action among teachers, students, and the community, from social outreach and research in the framework of the concept of A WELLNESS – A HEALTH and environmental sustainability.
Specific objectives
- Form specialists with the capacity to identify, design, plan, implement and evaluate solutions in bioethics from the Science of Animal Welfare problems and behavioral animal welfare and to resolve them through the implementation bioethics of scientific tools that focus on these areas.
- To provide the future Specialists in Animal Welfare and Ethology a strong interdisciplinary training with a scientific basis, from the perspective of A WELLNESS – A HEALTH and sustainable development, and sustainable.
- Understand the ethical, philosophical, cultural and legal animal welfare.
- To evaluate the implementation of production systems and innovative from the sustainability, ethology and animal welfare.
- Plan and implement strategies to improve animal welfare that are consistent with the reality of the country and context, ethical, and cultural.
- Propose and encourage the applied scientific research related to the Science of Animal Welfare and Ethology to improve the quality of life of animals-human and non-human and the human – animal bond – environment.
- Identify and capture the importance of the science of animal welfare within the concept of A WELLNESS-A HEALTH, public health and sustainable development, and sustainable.
- Communicate ideas clearly and effectively on the contribution of Ethology and Animal Welfare science and society.
- Form specialists analytical, entrepreneurial, able to work in a team and with ease of oral and written communication.
Additional registration requirements established by UNIAGRARIA to the graduate programs (Regulation of the Student and the General Regulation of Graduate studies), the professional who want to enter the Specialization program must meet the following criteria for admission:
- Professional veterinary science and animal husbandry, life sciences, and health sciences and/or the like.
- Ability to work in team and management organized the time.
- Management of operating systems and technologies of information and communication – ICT.
- Capacity of synthesis and oral and written expression.
- High ethical commitment, as a fundamental aspect to make sense of responsibility to their academic performance in self-study methodology virtual.

The graduate of the Specialization in Animal Welfare and Ethology of UNIAGRARIA is committed with the knowledge and basic applications and advanced the Science of Animal Welfare and Ethology, acting with ethics, commitment, responsibility, and respect for all of life-in its social duty from the integrative concept of well-being and Health, in the interconnection between human well-being, of the animals and the environment as an active actor with a global vision and a local application that generates alternatives bioethical solution for the improvement of the quality of life of the communities, the development of the territories, environmental sustainability and animal welfare.

PLAN OF STUDIES
To enter the program of Specialization of UNIAGRARIA, in addition to complying with the requirements established in the Regulations of the Student and the General Regulation of Graduate studies, the interested professional shall meet the following admission criteria:
Professional degree in veterinary science and animal husbandry, biological sciences, health sciences or related areas.
Ability to lock the jar in a team and manage time in an organized way.
Domain of operating systems and technologies of information and communication technology (ICT).
Ability to synthesize information and to express themselves in a clear manner, both orally and in writing. Ethical commitment to high, considered essential for assuming responsibility for self-study in the virtual mode.
