Assist in the development of the infrastructure of civil works of local, regional and national, through the training of Civil Engineers, comprehensive, committed, into the world of work and the creation of construction companies and consulting firms, by means of science and technology, research and the social projection; work with dedication and excellence and business leadership to contribute to the economic and social development of the country, to the improvement of the urban sector and rural areas, the conservation of the environment and the proper use of natural resources.
The Civil Engineering program of the Fundación Universitaria Agraria de Colombia UNIAGRARIA will be recognized by leading processes training focused on the technological and scientific research applied to the development in different contexts, especially in the rural areas of the Country, forming a competent professional, comprehensive, and entrepreneurs with a solid foundation of responsibility and awareness for the preservation and care of the natural resources, which is responsive to the development prospective of Civil Engineering and the needs of regional infrastructure, national and international, helping in the business and economic development of the Country.
The objectives of the Civil Engineering program are addressed, in accordance with the guidance set out in the IEP, to contribute to the development and adherence to the guidelines of the Mission and Institutional Vision.
- Be Civil Engineers with a strong sense of belonging in the exercise of their profession through the culture of entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability and regional development, hinged to the strengthening of the construction sector.
- To promote and perform the tasks that foster the continuous improvement of the criteria of High Quality, of the activities of the Engineering Program Civil, within the processes of self-evaluation.
- Create a leading spirit in the students, for the development of projects and activities of research, extension, outreach and internationalization, which will contribute to the analysis and solution of real problems typical of the discipline.
- To promote and support the academic community in the implementation of joint activities with national and international institutions, the agencies of the State, the private Company, the Productive Sector, and professional Associations.
- Be Civil Engineers comprehensive, men and women of competence, with social responsibility and environmental, that contribute to the solution of problems through the design, monitoring and construction of the required infrastructure for the development of the society, which are incorporated into the world of work and the creation of construction companies and consulting firms with dedication and excellence, especially in regions and rural areas.
Graduate profile:
The Civil Engineer UNIAGRARIA may serve in public and private entities such as: designer, construction manager, consultant, contractor, controller and curator urban; management and business management; projects related to development plans; land administration; tenders and contracts; basic and environmental sanitation; and analysis of water resources, housing; roads and transportation, urban and rural areas; municipal infrastructure and regional levels; geotechnical engineering; geomatics and structures; in the stages of planning, implementation and review of works; and in research activities for the development of new technologies; teaching and training.
Economically, the Civil Engineer UNIAGRARIA can:
- Prepare terms of reference and feasibility studies and pre-feasibility study for projects related to their profession.
- Working as a team for the preparation of tenders, contracts, personnel management, among others.
- Plan, design, calculate, manage and execute works related to: basic sanitation (water and sewer), irrigation systems, roads, pavements, civil construction, geotechnical studies, foundations, among others, both in urban and rural areas
- Access to governmental entities in the design, formulation, monitoring and evaluation of infrastructure projects, zoning or land planning.
- Define the quality of the materials and to make their control.
- Detail the equipment and tools necessary for constructive activity.
- Develop and analyze costs, budgets, and schedules required for projects in general.
- Analyze the financial viability of the projects and manage resources, materials and equipment, as well as direct and lead the human resources required for the development of the projects.
- Perform the maintenance, the prevention and control of civil works.
- Make interventorías technical, administrative, construction projects, or consulting.
- Develop tools computer support in areas such as topography, roads, soil mechanics, hydraulics, hydrology, analysis and design of structures, systems of aqueducts and sewers, as well as software development for various applications in the field of Civil Engineering.
